Melissa Sloan finishes first place in the Run Like Hell 5K

Longtime Gauge Fitness member Melissa Sloan takes home the gold after competing in the largest cemetery run in the country, the Run Like Hell 5K.  On October 15, she ran like hell right past the competition to complete the event in 25 minutes and 10 seconds, which landed her the top spot in the 40 to 45 age group.  She attributes her win to the training she’d been doing. “I stayed consistent with going to boot camp and running during the days off,” Melissa says. And although her biggest challenge during the spirited run were the hills, setting goals and mental determination helped to get her through. “I am always continuing to set new goals in order to get better,” Melissa says. Since starting with Gauge Fitness in August 2016, she says, “ I am much stronger and physically fit.” Adding, “I have lost weight and gained muscle.”

Upcoming goals for December? Melissa wants to complete a half marathon (13.1 miles) in two hours. And in 2018, she’ll continue to up her game. “I am also training for the Disney Fairy Tale Challenge in February.” At this competition, she’ll run a total of 19.3 miles through the happiest place on earth.

We congratulate Melissa for doing such a great job! She is always representing Gauge Fitness and continues to meet her goals. The next time you see Melissa in class, give her a high-five!  Her remarkable efforts are to be commended.
